27-FEB-2024
On February 27th, the Department of Social Work, in collaboration with BLUENGO, IQAC, NCC, and YRC, orchestrated a sensitization program centered on Civic Engagement and Voting Rights. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. B. Ramesh, an esteemed entrepreneur and the founder/managing trustee of the Thikazh Charitable Trust, who served as the chief guest for the session.
Mr. Ramesh delivered an insightful discourse on the various methods of voting throughout different periods, elucidating the significance of exercising one's voting rights. He emphasized the importance of voting, shedding light on the repercussions of abstaining from this fundamental civic duty.
Following his address, a mock election was conducted, featuring four fictitious candidates: Rat, Crow, Buffalo, and Pig. Students were actively engaged in discerning the merits and demerits of each candidate, facilitating a deeper understanding of the electoral process. Subsequently, utilizing digital platforms, all students cast their votes, reaffirming their commitment to democratic participation.
The participation of Mr. Siva and Archana from BLUENGO further enriched the program, adding valuable perspectives to the discourse. The event concluded with a collective pledge from the students to exercise their voting rights responsibly in the future, thereby contributing to the democratic fabric of society. Let us congratulate Dr Sudha,Head and staff members for organizing the program successfully.
